Subject: Quantum Polymers Operational Update re: COVID-19

On Sunday, Delaware Governor John Carney ordered non-essential businesses to close effective 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2020. Quantum Polymers (NAICS 3261, Industry Group Plastics Product Manufacturing) is exempt from this closure and as required of essential businesses, has adopted COVID-19 infection control measures including:

–Following CDC guidelines and recommendations for social distancing (remaining out of congregate settings, avoiding mass gatherings, and maintaining a distance of six (6) feet from others during the workday

–Having hand washing stations and hand sanitizer readily available for all employees throughout the workday

–Following CDC guidelines and recommendations for environmental cleaning of the site

–Prohibiting all visitors inside the worksite unless they are providing essential services (pickup of shipments and receiving of resins)

–Stressing to all employees that they are not to come to work when they are sick

–Teleworking where/when possible

Through the present date, Quantum Polymers is operating at near-full capacity with no known cases of infection among our production and administrative staff. However, we cannot rule out the possibility of future impact in the near or long term as a result of new mandates by state or even federal government orders. We are evaluating the situation closely and will notify customers on a daily basis with updates for existing orders and forecasts for future production.

We recognize that this is a rapidly evolving situation in Delaware, in the United States, and across the world. Here at Quantum Polymers we will continue to take the necessary actions to ensure that our team is safe while providing the services that you and your business count on from us.

Quanta™ PEKK High Performance Stock Shapes

Sep/Oct 2019admin

Quanta™ PEKK (polyetherketoneketone) stock shapes of rod and plate are extruded by Quantum Polymers in Newark, DE from Kepstan® 8001 (unfilled) PEKK resin manufactured by ARKEMA.

PEKK is a member of the PAEK (polyaryletherketone) family of polymers that also includes PEEK, PEK, and PEKEKK. Polyaryletherketones have been described as the world’s highest performing true thermoplastic polymers and PEKK is specifically unique as its crystallinity is tunable. Read full article here.

Quantum’s Custom Compounded High-Performance Stock Shapes

Jul/Aug 2019admin

QUANTUM Advanced Engineering Plastics has never met an ASTM line call or customer specification it did not like or could not meet.  Through strong partnerships with small, innovative and versatile compounders along with its own technical and extrusion capabilities, QUANTUM’s line of custom-compounded engineering and high-performance rods, plates and heavy-wall tubular bars is unmatched.

Additives, colorants, fillers and reinforcements of all types are available to meet demanding specifications and to overcome deficiencies in neat resins.   The benefits of high-performance compounding are many and include improved tensile strength or modulus, metal detectability, ESD safety, improved burning behavior, increased lubricity, higher density, dissolvability, and of course, color-matching.  Whether the goal is overall performance enhancement or cost, QUANTUM can provide a custom-compounded shape for the application without the requirement of large minimum orders. Quantum Polymers PPS Featured In Plastics Distributor & Fabricator Magazine

Sep/Oct 2018admin

Our Impact-Modified PPS stock shapes were recently featured in Plastics Distributor and Fabricator Magazine—Often referred to as “smart man’s PEEK”, PPS is a tough semi-crystalline polymer with excellent chemical resistance to solvents, acids, bases and petroleum fluids along with great temperature resistance to 175°C, high limiting oxygen index (LOI) – making it inherently flame resistant, and a lower specific gravity vs. metals. Quantum Polymers is now ISO 9001:2015

Jul 2018admin

We did it! Quantum Polymers has successfully transitioned to the ISO 9001:2015 standard. So proud of our employees for all they did to make this happen. Managing quality remains a top priority at Quantum. https://quantum-polymers.com/quality-policy/

ULTEM™ High Performance Stock Shapes

Sep/Oct 2017admin

Quantum Polymers is a premier US manufacturer of extruded engineering and high performance polymer stock shapes for machined parts. Quantum focuses on ULTEM™, Kynar®, PEEK and PPS but specializes in providing best-in-class quality, innovation, and service across a wide range of polymers.

The ULTEM™ family of amorphous thermoplastic polyetherimide (PEI) resins offers outstanding elevated thermal resistance, high strength and stiffness, and broad UV and chemical resistance. PEI resins are used in a variety of applications where resistance to high heat, certain solvents and flame is paramount. Quantum’s PEI stock shapes perform in continuous use to 340°F (170°C). ULTEM™ also offers exceptional electricalproperties over several frequencies. Read full article here.

KYNAR® PVDF Fluorinated Polymer Portfolio of Stock Shapes

Sep/Oct 2016admin

Quantum Polymers is a leading extruder of Kynar extruded stock shapes to include rod, plate and heavy wall tubular bar.  Quantum’s Kynar portfolio of products includes grades Kynar 740 (homopolymer), Kynar FLEX (copolymer) and Kynar UHM (glass filled).

Homopolymer grades of Kynar are known for their low water absorption and high LOI (limiting oxygen index). Copolymer grades of Kynar are known for their high tensile elongation and high impact strength.  Kynar UHM glass filled PVDF has high flexural modulus and excellent creep resistance.  All Kynar grades have excellent chemical resistance to strong acids and weak bases. High Ductility QuantaPEEK™ Stock Shapes

Sep/Oct 2015admin

High Ductility QuantaPEEK extruded rod, plates and tubular bars achieve a higher level of mechanical toughness and much less brittleness than conventional PEEK stock shapes.  Extruded from both KetaSpire® KT-810 and Vestakeep® 5000G resins, High Ductility QuantaPEEK stock shapes offer improved fatigue performance, high collapse pressure resistance and significantly improved ductility.  High Ductility QuantaPEEK stock shapes machine as easily as conventional PEEK.  Applications include sealing rings, compressor parts, valve parts and back-up rings.  Rods are available from 1/2” to 10” diameter.  Plates are available from ½” to 6” thick in widths 12”, 18” and 24” widths.  Heavy wall tubular bars are available on a custom basis.

Stock Shapes Perfect for Making Machined Parts
